LIGHTING HELP: Start Using Speedlights as Off Camera Flash for Your Studio Photoshoot Today!

 

There’re always questions about using Speedlights. How to do professional studio work with your Speedlights? Can you imagine a really nice fine art portrait photoshoot by using Off Camera Flash?

Jiggie Alejandrino, the portrait & wedding photographer we introduced before, brings about new lighting tutorial this week. He’s the Sony Ph Brand Ambassador, the Zeiss Camera Lens Ambassador, and regarded as one of the most reputable lighting specialists.

Today Jiggie’s going to show you show you how to use these speedlights off camera in a studio setting to create professional looking fine art photos. For this photoshoot, you’ll need to set up 2 Flash Units:

Flash Unit A: Lighting up the background and spilling light towards the share the chair where my subject will be.

Flash Unit B: Creates a very nice overall light just to be able to open up the shadows.

Each Flash Unit Setting: 1/32 Power

Do what Jiggie dose in the video step by step, and he will show you what exactly each flash is doing.

To complete this particular setup, everything you need:

  • Sony F60RM(x2)
  • DesView Monitor(gives fantastic color)
  • TriggerSony Wireless Radio Commander (FA-WRC1M)(control both flash units)
  • MagMod MagBox

Basic Camera Settings:

  • Manual mode, 1/25, F 2.8, Iso 100.
  • White balance as you need.
  • Continuous focusing (always just focus on the eye)

With this pirticular setup, you will see, speedlights, or portable battery operated flash units can definitely help you do professional work. Use a couple os Sony F60RMs and some MagMod Gear, with correct settings, you can also to create some really nice fine art portrait photos.

Regarding the backdrops, Jiggie chose a 5x7ft Kate Abstract Texture Cold Tones of Green and Grey Hand-painted Canvas Backdrop, which is completely well qualified for the job.
